This Sinking Ship Unveil Introspective Debut Album The Burden

Melbourne/Naarm-based punk outfit This Sinking Ship have officially released their debut album, The Burden, a raw and introspective exploration of the struggles that define the human experience.

The 12-track album is now streaming across all platforms.

With international roots spanning New Zealand, the UK, and South America, This Sinking Ship have carved out a space in Melbourne’s Alt/Punk/Metal scene. Known for their high-energy performances and unflinching lyricism, the four-piece draws inspiration from heavyweights like Bad Religion, Rise Against, and Thrice.

The Burden delves into themes of social media’s impact, depression, self-shame, and intergenerational trauma, tackling these issues with both intensity and nuance. Recorded at One Be Studios by Brent Quirk, the album showcases the band’s melodic punk sound while weaving in their diverse cultural influences.

This Sinking Ship have already made waves in the punk scene. Their single “Epicurean Paradox” was featured on Triple J’s Short, Fast, Loud, and the band has landed spots on The Punk Rock Museum’s New Music Friday, Punk Rock Mag’s Best of Year lists, and several emerging punk playlists.

With The Burden, This Sinking Ship are ready to propel their music to new heights, solidifying their place as a rising force in the punk community.
